What happens in the consultation call?

Your first consultation is completely free and lasts about 15- 30 minutes. We'll talk about what's bringing you here, I'll explain how I work, and we'll see if we feel like a good fit. No pressure to commit to anything - it's just a conversation.

I've never done therapy before. What should I expect?

It's basically having a really focused conversation with someone who's trained to listen and help you figure things out. No lying on couches, no analyzing your dreams. Just real talk about what's going on in your life and how to make it better.

What makes you different from other therapists?

Accepted Answer

I don't believe in keeping you in therapy forever. My goal is to give you tools so good that you don't need me anymore. Also, I understand Indian family dynamics - you won't have to explain why your mother's opinion matters or why "just cut them off" isn't realistic advice.

Are you going to tell me what to do?

My role isn’t to give you direct instructions or make decisions for you. Instead, I’m here to support you in clarifying your own goals, values, and choices. Together, we’ll explore what’s important to you and what feels right for your unique situation. If I notice patterns that might be holding you back or recurring challenges, I’ll offer honest feedback and help you develop strategies to address them. Ultimately, the aim is for you to feel confident navigating decisions on your own, with the support and insights gained through our work together.

Is online counselling as effective as in-person sessions?

Accepted Answer

Yes, online counselling can be just as effective as meeting in person for most issues. Many clients find online sessions more flexible and accessible, especially if you have a busy schedule or live outside Bangalore. You’ll get the same level of support, privacy, and practical strategies  all from the comfort of your own space. If you’re ever unsure which is best, we can always discuss what will work for you.

Is therapy confidential?

Absolutely. Everything you share in therapy is private and stays between us, protected by strict professional standards. There are rare exceptions required by law (if there’s a serious risk of harm to yourself or others, or child protection concerns), but I will always discuss these with you openly. Your trust and privacy are deeply respected at every step.

Question 7

How much does therapy cost, and are there affordable options?

Individual online sessions are ₹1200 and in-person sessions in Bangalore are ₹1500. The first call is free, so you can see if this feels right before committing. I also offer a few sliding scale spots for clients who truly need financial flexibility. Payment is simple and transparent, with no hidden fees. If cost is your main concern, feel free to bring it up  I’m happy to work with you or help you find other resources if needed.

What if I don't know what to talk about?

That's normal. I'll ask questions to get us started. Sometimes people think they need to have everything figured out before they come to therapy, but figuring it out IS the therapy.

Question 9

What if therapy doesn't work for me?

Accepted Answer

If we're not making progress after a few sessions, we'll talk about it. Maybe we need to try a different approach, or maybe you need a different therapist. I'll be honest about what I think will help.

Question 10

Can you help with medication?

Accepted Answer

I'm a counseling psychologist, not a psychiatrist, so I can't prescribe medication. But if we think medication might help, I can refer you to someone I trust.
